Ruben Amorim shuts down Alejandro Garnacho question after Chelsea transfer link

Ruben Amorim refused to fuel speculation over Alejandro Garnacho’s future following approaches from Chelsea and Napoli for the Manchester United winger. United have held talks with both Chelsea and Napoli over a deal for the Argentina international but have been holding out for a £70m transfer fee.
This week, reports in Italy have claimed that United have now lowered their asking price to €65m (£54.8m) following further negotiations with Napoli. It’s understood that Garnacho is keen to remain in the Premier League and his two representatives were at Stamford Bridge this week to watch Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Wolves.
But when asked about Garnacho attracting interest from Chelsea and Napoli, Amorim stressed that he is keen for the winger to focus on United’s Europa League tie against Rangers on Thursday. ‘As I understand the question, let’s focus on the game,’ Amorim said.
‘I don’t want to talk about that, especially before a game. ‘Our focus is that our players are here to play, we need to improve, we need to win games to have that feeling of winning, it’s really important for us so let’s focus on that.’. Amorim also clarified his comments after he described his side as ‘the worst Manchester United team in history’ following their 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton on Sunday. ‘I was talking more from myself rather than from my players because I was talking as a coach who has lost seven or eight games from the first ten,’ Amorim said.
