Darwin Nunez may split opinion online, but the Liverpool striker has a fan in Arne Slot. The Uruguay star, 25, joined the Reds for big money back in the summer of 2022 as Jurgen Klopp sought to evolve his frontline. But the big No.9 has been inconsistent in front of goal, fantastic one moment and then frustrating the next.
Liverpool have manoeuvred themselves into pole position in the title race with a healthy lead at the Premier League summit. Nunez's returns have been poor, though, and he has just two league goals and three assists to his name after 15 games. His long-term future has come into question in recent months, with some pundits questioning whether Nunez is actually worth persevering with given Liverpool's chances of silverware both domestically and in Europe. However, Mirror Football understands Liverpool have NOT received a bid from Saudi Arabia for their No.9 despite reports to the contrary.
