Aston Martin will start the 2025 Formula 1 season with a new team principal. Mike Krack has filled the role since he joined the Silverstone-based squad in 2022. But he has now been moved out of it and into the newly-created 'chief trackside officer' role, which the team says will mean he is still responsible for "getting the most performance out of the car".
The new Aston Martin team principal is Andy Cowell, who joined the team last year as chief executive to replace the long-serving Martin Whitmarsh. The moves are part of a restructure of the team's leadership announced ahead of the 2025 campaign which begins in March.
Their engineering, aerodynamics and performance departments have been separated to create two separate teams for each. One will comprise of the people working trackside, while the other will be based at their headquarters across the road from the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire.
Krack will lead the trackside teams overall, while Enrico Cardile is in charge of those working back in the UK. The Italian, who joined last year from Ferrari, is in the role of chief technical officer and will be reporting to Adrian Newey when the legendary former Red Bull car designer begins work in March.
Tom McCullough, previously F1 performance director, will remain with the Aston Martin group he has served for 11 years but has been moved to an unspecified new "leadership position", which will involve him working across the company's wider racing projects rather than solely in F1.
