Aussie tennis star Destanee Aiava hit back at several fans on social media who disgracefully appeared to body shame her. The 24-year-old took to X to call out one comment, that claimed she 'needed to lose some weight to get more quick on her feet'. The comment has since been deleted.
Aiava replied to the post stating: 'Good job triggering my ED [eating disorder]'. The Victorian tennis star, who is currently ranked No 195 on the WTA Tour today secured victory in her second-round qualifying match against Hungarian star Panna Udvardy, sealing the win 6-4 6-1.
The disgusting comments came after journalist Ben Rothenberg had shared an image showing that Aiava was wearing a pink Nike dress that matched the one Maria Sharapova wore at the 2012 US Open during her first day of qualifying. Rothenberg noted the moment writing: 'Fun archival fashioin moment: Destanee Aiava is wearing the same pink Nike dress design for her 2025 Australian Open Qualifiers match that Maria Sharapova wore way back at the 2012 US Open.'.
Destanee Aiava called out fans who disgracefully body shamed her on social media on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Aussie superstar hit back at the comments but received a surprise response. Aiava responded to one comment body shaming her, writing: 'Good job triggering my ED'.
Aiava, who made her Grand Slam main-draw debut at the 2017 Australian Open, first hit out at the comment, before an unexpected moment took place. '"Not to hate" or "body shame" and then you went and hated and body shamed,' Aiava wrote following the post.
