Officials at the Australian Open were forced to move a tennis match during the first set because of a rowdy bunch of fans on a neighbouring court. Felix Auger-Aliassime's match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Court Eight was stopped at around 9pm on Wednesday, midway through the first set, because of constant noise from Court Six.
The match was shifted to court seven, away from the absurd volume of the crowd next door. Court Six at the Australian Open, sometimes referred to as 'the party court' has a reputation for being loud because of the bar that is situated near it. On this occasion it was French fans supporting Arthur Cazaux, as he took on Brit Jacob Fearnley, who were making all the noise.
Pundits, fans and former players were all stunned by the move. MAI VISTA UNA COSA SIMILE 😮Il match tra Auger-Aliassime e Davidovich Fokina è stato spostato: il motivo? Australian Open officials were forced to move a tennis match during the first set because of noisy fans on the 'party court'. Fokina (pictured) came back from a two-set deficit to win the match. Tennis journalist Jose Morgado said 'first time I've seen this' as they players shifted courts mid-match.
