Tennis stars playing at the 2025 Australian Open will be laughing all the way to the bank given the jaw-dropping prizemoney on offer at the first Grand Slam of the season. The Australian Open has revealed the breakdown of prize money for this year's event, with the prize pool up nearly 12 per cent on 2024 to $96.5million.
Novak Djokovic will be aiming to claim his 25th career Grand Slam - and incredibly, his 11th title at Melbourne Park when the tournament begins on Sunday. If the Serbian ace lifts the trophy on January 26 he will be rewarded financially as well, with the victor in the men's singles to receive a staggering $3.5million.
The same huge prizemoney applies in the women's singles, with world number one Aryna Sabalenka the hot favourite in many people's eyes. Whoever finishes runner-up will snare $1.9million. Australian Alex de Minaur will be hoping to win the men's singles and claim a staggering $3.5million in prize money.
Aryna Sabalenka is the hot favourite to take out the women's singles title in Melbourne. Those knocked out early won't be too hard up, with first-round losers in men's and women's singles receiving $132,000. Semi-finalists will make $1,100,000, with Australian Open prizemoney increasing by more than 36 per cent in the past five editions.
Doubles players are poised to bank $40,000 even if they lose in the first round - with the winners of the title snaring $810,000 and runners-up making $440,000 per duo. In 2024, the mixed doubles winners received $165,000, but that will jump to $175,000 this year while the runners-up will receive $97,750.
