The real life Bank of Dave star has opened up on the true story behind his new Netflix film as he admitted some scenes are ‘slightly magic’. Self-made millionaire Dave Fishwick started Burnley Savings and Loans in 2011 to lend money to people struggling to secure loans from bigger banks.

Two years ago Netflix went on to produce a film on the real life events. Now after the highly successful show, a sequel is set to hit TV screens on Friday. Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, described by producers as "true-ish", sees Burnley-based Dave, played by Bond star Rory Kinnear, take on payday loan companies after discovering some residents are being charged up to 5,000% interest.

Ahead of the new film, Dave Fishwick appeared on ITV hit chat show This Morning alongside hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard and it didn’t take long for talk to turn to the storyline. Cat asked: “You say in the film that it is a true ish film so which bits are true and which bits are ish. Did you really get rescued by Def Leppard in one of their private jets?”.

Dave admitted: “That bit is slightly magical, however there is one thing that isn’t true, Rory is not a bad singer - he is a brilliant singer.”. He continued: “When I turn up at the pub to do some karaoke I’m rubbish but everybody expects me to be brilliant because he’s (Rory Kinnear) got all these Grammys and things for singing and acting and I get on stage and I’m rubbish so that’s not true I am not a good singer.”.

Dave went on to reveal how he managed to get Def Leppard, the rock legends behind Love Bites and Pour Some Sugar on Me onto the show, he explained: “The Talbot pub was right next to Burnley college. That’s where I went and at dinner time I would go down there with my pals and there was a Jukebox there with Def Leppard and I would press it.
