Mathys Tel appears to have bid farewell to Bayern Munich with FOUR Premier League clubs pursuing his signature. The French star is a wanted man with Manchester United among those looking to secure a deal before the January transfer window closes. Tel, despite being tipped for big things, has found minutes hard to come by at the Bundesliga outfit and is now considering his options. His actions on Wednesday night were telling with the forward starting in their win over Slovan Bratislava, before he was subbed after 62 minutes. After the game he took a solo moment to wave to the fans and was pictured applauding them. He then took off his coat and handed it to a fan as well as shaking hands and taking selfies.
Chelsea and Tottenham are both keen on signing the 19-year-old with the Red Devils also considering him as a potential arrival. Arsenal too are monitoring his situation. Tel is prepared to assess all of his options before making a final decision on his future. United could yet lose Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho or potential both in the coming days which would leave them needing more pace on the flanks. Tel could provide that and appears keen for a new opportunity.
Chelsea are well stocked in the final third but continue to go after new recruits whilst Tottenham are in need of a fresh injection and would likely be able to offer Tel regular football. Arsenal have had a £60m bid for Ollie Watkins turned down as they look to add to their attacking ranks, and Tel is a name being mooted at the Emirates as a potential solution on loan. Vincent Kompany has found it hard to give the Frenchman regularly opportunities but said on Wednesday: "It’s simply deserved. We have many attackers who can score goals and help the team. Mathys deserved to start and hopefully he shows what he can do. There were no other thoughts behind that. Everything else has nothing to do with my job.".
Tel has only started two games in the Bundesliga this term, coming on six times, and failing to score. Bayern have a number of attacking options, including ex-Crystal Palace man Michael Olise, with the Frenchman unable to leap ahead of them in the pecking order. Bayern director Max Eberl has admitted: “Yes, Mathys Tel wants to go. Loan or permanent? We will assess all the options. I've rarely had so many clubs call me about a player before”.
