World no. 6 Jessica Pegula is setting her sights on clinching her maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open after making a shift in her approach to the game. Pegula, an accomplished player both in singles and doubles, has reaped significant success in partnership with American star Coco Gauff. The pair soared to the top of the rankings, securing five titles as they became a powerful force to be reckoned with.

Their impressive run, however, hit a stumbling block with a surprising second-round defeat at the Olympics last year, prompting a reassessment of their doubles engagement. Last September, amid redefining goals, the daughter of billionaire sports magnate Terry Pegula decided to bow out of the US Open doubles contest to focus solely on singles, a move that paid off when she dazzled on her way to the singles final in New York. Both Pegula and Gauff have been clear about prioritising their respective singles careers for the time being, with no immediate plans to reform their successful partnership. "For me, I'm not sure. I know Coco doesn't really, isn't interested in playing, or at least I'm not, we're not thinking of playing, so I probably will take it easy on the doubles the rest of the year, so, yeah, we'll see," Pegula said at the Canadian Open back in August, reports the Express.
