Bargain Hunt enthusiasts were left in the lurch once more as the daytime show broadcast yet another disheartening defeat. The beloved BBC programme made its comeback on Wednesday (January 8), with Charlie Ross steering the ship for an edge-of-your-seat instalment.
Expert antique hunters Caroline Hawley and David Harper teamed up with Charles to guide the red team, featuring the mother-and-daughter Sarah and Zara, and the blue team, comprising father-and-son Richard and Mattie. Broadcasting from Newark-on-Trent, the episode kicked off with high hopes as the two teams embarked on their quest to outdo each other in the ultimate antique flipping contest.
However, as the show progressed and each duo picked out three items to auction off in the hopes of turning a profit, their fortunes took a nosedive, reports the Express. The red team, under Caroline's wing, faced a setback at the auction with their selected treasures. Even when Caroline threw in a solid silver table stick, which she had acquired for £70, it fetched a mere £50 at the hammer, adding to their woes.
Ending up with a deficit of -£129, host Charles offered words of consolation to the pair, reminding them that in the past, such a loss could have been a winning figure. The blue team didn't fare much better, ending up with a loss of -£35, prompting Charles to describe the outcome as a "sumptuous" defeat.
