Viewers of Bargain Hunt were in for a surprise during Wednesday's edition of the show when Sunjit and her daughter Simran experienced a streak of bad luck. In this repeated episode, which was shot in Peterborough, the mother-daughter team scoured the Festival of Antiques with expert Roo Irvine by their side and £300 to play with, eventually spending £210 and saving £90 for a wildcard purchase.

The pair felt confident about their haul, which included an overmantle mirror, a fob chain and a diamond ring. The pair were especially optimistic about the walnut overmantle they snagged for £45. Simran was betting on the piece to bring in a big profit at auction. However, the gamble didn't go as planned. When Sunjit faced the auction block alone after Simran couldn't make it, she watched in horror as their treasured mirror started with bids at a mere £10.

The mood sunk even further when it sold for just £18, far short of their expectations. Christina Trevanion, the host of Bargain Hunt, sympathised with Sunjit's disappointment, commenting: "£18, Oh my goodness. Someone's got a bargain.". Sunjit, clearly unimpressed by the low sale price added"Ah, that's a big loss!".

Despite the setback, Sunjit's spirits weren't dampened as she held out hope for the watch fob's prospects. Her optimism paid off somewhat as it fetched £30 - precisely the amount it was purchased for, avoiding any loss but also missing out on a gain, reports the Express.
