The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards takes place tonight, live from MediaCity in Salford. Keely Hodgkinson is the frontrunner to take home the night's top trophy. The Paris Olympics champion will be up against England football star Jude Bellingham, darts wonderkid Luke Littler, triathlete Olympic champion Alex Yee, cricketer Joe Root and Para-cyclist Sarah Storey for the evening's main award.

Seven other awards will be handed out, including World Sport Star of the Year, Coach of the Year, Unsung Hero and Team of the Year. A panel of industry experts, led by BBC director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski, selected the final shortlist for the main honour.

But the winner will be voted for by the public, with the ceremony broadcast by the BBC. The event gets underway at 7pm on BBC One, with Gabby Logan, Alex Scott and Clare Balding presenting. There will be notable absentee, with Gary Lineker not part of the line-up this season.

Follow all the action from the evening below... That's all for now, though there's sure to be more to come from Keely Hodgkinson in the future, and perhaps from Luke Littler in just a couple of weeks!. Thanks for joining us. From injury to continued success, Alan Smith spoke to the newly-crowned Sports Personality of the Year about her 2024.
