The Repair Shop delivered a heartwarming Christmas episode as a well-known face made a comeback. Tonight's festive special of the BBC show saw the talented team reunite to breathe new life into cherished items brought in by guests. Roman Kemp, The One Show presenter, stepped in to showcase a treasured family keepsake after the programme invited submissions for their experts to examine. Kat presented a teddy bear that her grandfather had given her, which was in need of some TLC, sporting a large tear and losing its stuffing.
Kat's hope was to pass the mended teddy to her son Freddie, who impressively cycled 100 miles the previous year to fundraise for the hospital that looked after his ill grandfather. Experts Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell took on the task, restoring the teddy bear to its former glory. Overwhelmed, Kat said: "It would mean the world to me to have him back and fixed because it was something my dad always wanted.".
In another segment, Dominic Chinea and Brenton West tackled the restoration of two oversized fibreglass puffins from a children's bookshop, while Will Kirk, Kirsten Ramsay, Steve Fletcher, and Mark Stuckey collaborated to refurbish a miniature Christmas Village, a festive feature in a foster children's home.
Expert Suzie Fletcher took on the challenge of breathing new life into a cherished donkey saddle heirloom, while Mark Stuckey, Pete Woods, and Pierro Pozella teamed up to restore an astonishing century-old magic lantern for one family. As the episode drew to a close, narrator Bill Paterson joined the full cast and the three sisters for a heart-warming reading of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas', followed by a mesmerising demonstration of the restored lantern.
