Bear Grylls really knows how to make an entrance – the adventurer abseiled down a London building into the premiere of his new Netflix show Celebrity Bear Hunt. He saw Timothée Chamalot’s lime bike arrival, and really said “Hold my beer”. The 50-year-old maneuvered his way along the Odeon West End in central London to awaiting crowds. He of course kept things risk-free with a harness and wires which controlled his landing – Netflix don’t play when it comes to health and safety.
Once his feet were on the ground he met with wife Shara, who usually tends to stay away from the spotlight, and they posed for pictures. While her hubby went for practical clothing, Shara Grylls took a more traditional mode of transport to get to the event so wore strappy leopard print heels, which were paired with jeans and a grey coat. Bear and author Shara married in 2000 after two years of dating and share three sons: Jesse, 21, Marmaduke, 18, and Huckleberry, 15.
On the wedding day Bear recalls getting one piece of advice that’s served them well: ‘Never stop holding hands. ‘That’s what Shara and I have always tried to do, both physically and metaphorically,’ he wrote in GQ. ‘Great marriages rarely just happen. And as someone once said to me: “If you ever think the grass is greener on the other side of the hill… it’s time to start watering your own.”‘.
The show’s host Holly Willoughby also walked the very-apt green carpet to celebrate its impending release, taking time to get snapped with Bear. The Dancing on Ice presenter looked beautiful in a stylish black midi dress from David Koma – a brand previously worn by Kylie Jenner and Gracie Abrams. The series’ premise sees 12 celebrities enter a Costa Rica jungle, aiming to make it out the other side as fast as they can. On their tail is Bear who’s trying to prevent them from reaching the finish line.
Now that the show is all filmed, the famous faces can just focus on celebrating their achievement. Most of the cast put on their finest eveningwear to attend the special screening, which is a little different to what they were wearing while filming!. Taking part are Spice Girls singer Mel B, retired tennis player Boris Becker, and interior design TV presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. There’s also presenter Steph McGovern, former rugby player Danny Cipriani, and Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas.
Rapper Big Zuu (real name Zuhair), former Saturdays singer Una Healy, and The Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas all spent time in South America too. Completing the line-up are fashion model Lottie Moss, Ted Lasso actor Kola Bokinni, and former Victoria’s Secret model Leomie Anderson. What I Own: I quit London at 48 and bought my first home in Sussex for £325,000. I bought a house with my partner — but when we broke up, he refused to sell.
I build 20ft tiny homes for homeless people (and they only cost £12,000). London's cheapest place to rent revealed — but it might not be for long. Londoners are flocking to this ‘bustling’ neighbourhood 10 miles from the centre. Celebrity Bear Hunt will be available on Netflix from February 5. Got a story?.
