Borussia Dortmund have made a loan move for Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka. The 21-year-old midfielder is available this month with his fallback option being a switch to their French sister club Strasbourg, as previously reported by Mail Sport. However, Dortmund are now offering him a luring transfer to the Bundesliga, which is said to appeal more to Chukwuemeka as Monday’s deadline day approaches.

An option to buy could be included, though Chelsea have been looking for his £40million release clause to be met in order to sanction a permanent sale in this window. They signed Chukwuemeka for £20m from Aston Villa in 2022. He has largely spent this season in the cold under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, going completely unused in the Premier League. Chukwuemeka has made five appearances in total this term with four coming as a substitute and all in cup competitions.
