Michail Antonio has been discharged from hospital less than a month after his horror car crash. The West Ham star suffered a broken leg during the incident which took place in Essex. Antonio, 34, is understand to have spent Christmas Day in hospital before returning home, although he won't play again this season.
His 2011 Ferrari FF, which cost £260,000, was left destroyed following the sickening crash. The incident occurred in Epping while Antonio was on his way home from West Ham's Rush Green training ground preparing for his team's Premier League clash with Wolves.
The forward underwent surgery on a broken leg that same night, Saturday, December 7. Antonio's club have raised almost £60,000 for the NHS and Air Ambulances UK Charity as a thank-you for their support. West Ham's players all wore shirts bearing Antonio's name ahead of their emotional 2-1 home win against Wolves. They were then auctioned off alongside match-worn shirts.
The auction raised £29,613 and that figure was matched by the club's board, making a total of £59,226 which will be split between the two causes. The shirt belonging to West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen - who scored the winning goal - raised the most cash, selling for £3,005.
"It's been special to see the West Ham family and the wider football community come together in support of Mic over the last month," Bown said. "We are all grateful for the care that both the NHS and Air Ambulances UK have given to Mic during a challenging time for him and his family.
