Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has added insult to injury after beating Manchester United 3-1, claiming the Seagulls knew how Ruben Amorim's side would play. United lost a 10th game of the Premier League season on Sunday as Yankuba Minteh tapped home with ease just five minutes in before Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot. Kaoru Mitoma made it 2-1 before Georginio Rutter added a third after Andre Onana's mistake.
It was a fourth defeat in the last six games for the Red Devils as Amorim continues to suffer a turbulent start to his reign, with the players struggling to adapt to his methods. And Hurzeler rubbed salt into the Portuguese coach's wounds by claiming Brighton had done their homework and knew what to expect from United.
Speaking after the game, he said: "I'm very happy and proud for the team because they showed commitment this week. They got what they deserved today, they did the details right and the small details to get the result. "We knew how Manchester United will play and you can prepare for that and we also had this feeling that we are in a good moment, we had the momentum. We came here after two wins, we had a lot of self belief and confidence. It is important to prepare the team but also to focus on yourself.
“[United] have all individual quality, they are world class players, we as a team came from not a great phase, we had a lot of draws, you have to stay strong, make the self belief, doubts never help and we really tried to focus on ourselves. I am sure Ruben will find a good solution.".
