A British traveller who went missing in the Caribbean nation of St Lucia – sparking a ‘vast search’ – has now revealed exactly what happened. Jemima Colenso, from Somerset, had been partying at the world famous Gros Islet street festival on Friday evening.

The 33-year-old, who lives on a boat off the Caribbean island, disappeared at around 11.25pm, with police working ‘around the clock’ to find her. The last photo she had posted before her disappearance was of her behind the wheel of a luxury yacht.

It was hours later that Jemima walked into a local police station to confirm she was alright, and reveal what exactly had happened. A police source said: ‘She brought herself into the station to say that she is fine and thanked police for their efforts in trying to relocate her.

‘She said that her phone was damaged and hence the reason why she could not be contacted nor contact anyone.’. Jemima had been staying on a boat called Lola moored at the Rodney Bay Marina, in northern St Lucia. Police confirmed that the traveller has now returned to the boat.

The police added: ‘She has returned to her yacht and we are delighted for her.’. Before her trip to the Caribbean islands, Jemima had owned a pottery-making business in her native Somerset. She shared many of her own designs and creations on social media, but sold the company in November to go sailing.
