Four out of 10 Brits have altered their daily habits over the past year to help bring some excitement to their lives. Whether it's midweek roasts, or finding a new route to work, Brits are enjoying mixing things up. According to a recent study 69% of Brits believe it's crucial to broaden their day-to-day tasks to keep motivated and stop life becoming too repetitive.

Now, Brits are making changes in an effort to make cut backs and conserve energy. A survey involving 2,000 adults revealed that 32% have abandoned their favourite supermarket in search of better bargains and ways to trim their shopping expenses, while 30% have begun preparing meals in bulk for the upcoming week.

A fifth have opted to reduce their evening TV time to save more energy, with 22% hitting going to bed earlier. Positively, for 11%, this new routine allows them to rise an hour earlier to fully make the most of the day. Yet, when it comes to the ultimate cost-saving shake up, a quarter are altering the way they use energy at home. Reconsidering what time they do 'high-energy consuming' tasks like running the washing machine or restricting the number of appliances they use at once.

The research was sponsored by Smart Energy GB to emphasise how adopting more flexible domestic habits could lead to energy bill savings. Smart Energy GB said customers could save money by taking part in energy reward schemes. The schemes are offered to customers with a smart meter and rewards consumers for using energy at different times of the day.
