Actress, Linda Lavin, sadly died on Sunday just days after attending her Netflix premiere. Linda, 87, best known for her role in the sitcom, Alice, played Phyllis Adelman in No Good Deed, which had its star-studded preview in Los Angeles earlier this month.
Tragically, just days after the premiere on December 4, Linda died on December 29, her agent, Bill Veloric, confirmed. The actress had been suffering from complications associated with lung cancer, which had recently been diagnosed. Tributes have been paid to the seasoned star following her death, with Netflix producers, Max Mutchnick, David Kohan, and James Murrows posting: “She was a magnificent actress, singer, musician, and a heat-seeking missile with a joke. But more significantly, she was a beautiful soul. Deep, joyful, generous, and loving.”.
The first episode of No Good Deed aired on Netflix on December 12. The show also stars Friends legend Lisa Kudrow and Mad Men actress, Linda Cardellini. Lavin also appeared on the Hulu show Mid-Century Modern. A Hulu spokesperson described the screen star as a "legend", saying: "She will be forever missed by her Mid-Century Modern family, as we mourn this incredible loss together.".
The Maine-born actress' career on stage and screen spanned decades. Lavin appeared in the 1960s musicals It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman - a show inspired by the comic book series - and the play Last of the Red Hot Lovers. She also featured in more than 200 episodes of Alice over nine years, from 1976 to 1985.
