Christmas Day on Coronation Street is always a spectacle, and this year is shaping up to be no different. Wedding bells are set to chime through Weatherfield as Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) and Gail Platt (Helen Worth) prepare to tie the knot, but in true soap style, it won’t be plain sailing.
As guests arrive for the big day at the Bistro, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) are pulled aside by police officers who are keen to question them about the fraud allegation Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) has made. When DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) shows Nick the TLH Holdings account, he swears he’s never seen it before, but will he be believed?.
Of course, it isn’t Christmas without a family brawl, and the Battersby sisters take one for the team this year when a row between them turns into a full-on fight, which Max Turner (Paddy Bever) manages to record. Elsewhere, things are just as dramatic for David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), who grows suspicious of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) when he doesn’t unwrap the aftershave he found in her bag.
His suspicions only grow when Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) later stops by reeking of aftershave, which he claims was a Christmas present. A plan forming, David insists that Adam join him for a drink, but secretly sticks to water as he plies the solicitor with whisky.
