Casualty star Michael Stevenson, who portrays Iain Dean in the popular BBC drama, has spoken out about his character's potential demise. This comes after a teaser for the show's Christmas episode hinted at a tragic event unfolding in the emergency department.
In the brief preview, Siobhan McKenzie (played by Melanie Hill) alerts her team: "The hospital is on amber warning, blood supplies are low.". The trailer then shifts to a scene of paramedic Iain involved in a crash, followed by a voice stating: "We have lost contact with Iain.".
Another voice adds: "It is just another day, Stevie," as the heart-wrenching trailer concludes. It remains uncertain whether Iain survives the crash, but in a recent interview, Michael discussed the distressing scenes and the constant fear of his character being "killed off.".
"I am always worried they are going to do that," he quipped when asked about his character's potential death, reports Wales Online. "Ask any actor when they open the script, they look for that page and they go, 'Oh, no I am safe'.". He added: "It was quite difficult being involved in all the stunts and the stuff we do on location. It is a privilege, and it never gets old, any stunt or anything we do on location like that.
"Whether it's a crash or an explosion or whatever we do and I love doing night shoots, there is something special about doing night shoots. "You're kind of hidden away from everybody, creating this little secret that no one knows about.". "They're always exciting to film," he revealed before adding: "And there is always an excitement among the crew when it comes to that moment to do the crash.".
