Luton Town has officially sacked manager Rob Edwards, with the club fearing relegation to the third tier after a disappointing run of form during the 2024-2025 campaign. The 42-year-old had been under immense pressure given how the Hatters have failed to adjust to life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last term.

His departure marks the end of a rollercoaster journey that began with the club gaining promotion to the top flight for the first time in 31 years and ended with only one win in their last six matches. A club statement on Thursday afternoon read: 'Luton Town Football Club can confirm that Rob Edwards has left his role as manager by mutual agreement.

'Rob was appointed in November 2022, and once the Championship had resumed following the break for the Qatar World Cup, together with assistants Richie Kyle and Paul Trollope, he took over a side sitting 10th, one point outside the play-offs. 'The trio guided the Hatters to third place, including a first derby win in front of fans for 17 years, then a stunning play-off semi-final success over Sunderland before winning promotion to the Premier League with a penalty shoot-out victory over Coventry.
