Shocking images show the moment a man onboard a plane was restrained by his fellow passengers after he punched out one of the aircraft's windows. Footage from the Frontier flight from Denver to Houston showed how the man also lashed out at passengers during the incident on Tuesday night. Passengers were forced to use shoelaces and zip ties to restrain him. He was also filmed screaming at people onboard the plane as they attempted to hold him down. And photos show the broken window. Former US Army soldier Tanner Phillips was among those who restrained the unruly passenger, who he said needed "a couple of guys" to secure him.
He told ABC13: "He was very physical. I picked him up and put him on the ground. It took a couple of guys to get his arms behind him and secured. There's like lots of women and kids on the flight. Obviously, so I just wanted to help as much as I could. We put hands on him and were able to secure him. Someone had zip ties, and someone else took their bootlace off and helped us out.". Fellow passenger Jessica Brown told FOX: "It was absolutely chaotic. The most terrifying thing I've ever been through. We turned around, and we saw this guy just punching out the window, and immediately we screamed for help. I just thought we are not having another 9/11. I was just so thankful that my husband and the other men jumped in immediately, so he didn't break the second panel of the window.".
Houston Police Department was called and the flight managed to land at George Bush Intercontinental Airport safely. Police said the aggressive passenger had been trying to speak with a woman in the seat in front of him, but she did not respond. This is said to have led to him lashing out at the seat and the plane window. Frontier Airlines decided not to press charges against him. Get email updates with the day's biggest stories.
