Charlie Brooks has revealed that Dancing on Ice 'opened her heart' to love after going Instagram official with her new boyfriend last week. The EastEnders star, who is best known for playing soap villain Janine Butcher, is competing in the new series of Dancing on Ice with professional skater Eric Radford.

In the midst of training, Charlie took to Instagram to debut her new relationship with producer James Fuller - her first public romance since splitting from boyfriend of six years Ben Hollington in 2018. Speaking to The Mirror and other press ahead of Dancing on Ice's Sunday launch show, Charlie shared how learning to skate has taught her lessons off the ice as well.

"The lessons that I'm learning on the ice, I swear to God, there are parallels that I'm having in my own life," she said. "To surrender into the ice, not being resistant, lean into Eric, trust him, don't put blocks up. "Not only from the ice as well but from Eric as my friend, I feel like there's been quite a lot of unblocking and growth and connection and heart-opening and all that. It's been amazing.".

In terms of how those lessons have applied to her personal life, Charlie said: "Just being open to meeting people in a way that maybe I wasn't before. When I'm doing the backwards crossovers, Eric is like, 'Lean in,' and I'm like, 'No!' The parallels of that have been amazing.".

Hosted by Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby, this year's series will see the likes of Coronation Street's Sam Aston, TOWIE's Dan Edgar, footballer Anton Ferdinand, Hollyoaks' Chelsee Healey, comedian Josh Jones, TV personality Ferne McCann, The Traitors star Mollie Pearce, Olympic rower Steve Redgrave, TV presenter Michaela Strachan and Love Island's Chris Taylor. Speaking about taking to the ice, Charlie said: "I'm very nervous but keen to get going.".
