Chelsea receive late transfer approach for Joao Felix as defender exit blocked

AC Milan are working on a deadline day swoop for Chelsea attacker Joao Felix. The Portuguese forward, who arrived from Atletico Madrid last summer for an initial £42million plus £4.3m in add-ons, has made just three starts in the Premier League this season. Italian giants Milan are keen to sign Felix on loan but are not willing to pay a sizeable fee to borrow the player until the end of the season.
Felix's super-agent Jorge Mendes is trying to unlock the deal but Chelsea are still undecided on whether they're willing to let the 25-year-old depart Stamford Bridge. Further talks are expected to take place in the coming hours. The Blues have also received other proposals for Felix this month from other clubs. Chelsea have just one international loan spot left within the quota meaning a late deal is still possible providing the two clubs can make ends meet.
Argentine centre-back Aaron Anselmino, who recently arrived from Boca Juniors, has attracted strong loan interest from Europe and Marseille were in pole position to land the 19-year-old despite approaches from Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta. But Chelsea are blocking Anselmino's switch to France and currently, that move won't happen barring a late swing of the pendulum. Aston Villa had also shown strong interest in Felix and Unai Emery has courted the ex-Barcelona loanee for the past three transfer windows but Villa were not willing to match Chelsea's financial demands.
It's understood the Blues were open to selling Felix to Villa if they effectively received a similar financial package to the one they paid to Atletico for the Portugal international last August. Christopher Nkunku, meanwhile, looks poised to remain in west London despite interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United. The Frenchman was not keen on leaving on a straight loan but would have been open to permanent offers including an initial loan with an obligation to buy. Chelsea remain open to signing a midfielder on deadline day and there is interest in Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly but an initial approach has been knocked back.
Ben Chilwell is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed loan switch to Crystal Palace while Tottenham have cooled their interest in Axel Disasi. Spurs had agreed a financial package with Chelsea that includes a hefty loan fee but after hijacking Wolves' move for Kevin Danso, they are now cooling their interest after failing to agree personal terms. Aston Villa is his preferred destination, although Stamford Bridge bosses are reluctant to allow him to join a direct rival.
