Cheltenham braced for ‘Constitution Hill v Lossiemouth 2’ on Festival trials Saturday Unbeaten hurdler Constitution Hill and star mare Lossiemouth could be set for a unexpected rematch at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Both Mullins and jockey Paul Townend were of the opinion that two-time Festival winner Lossiemouth, who captured the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham last year, was not seen at her best in the Christmas Hurdle.

Constitution Hills’ trainer Nicky Henderson had surprised many by stating his intention to run this weekend and liked what he saw when Constitution Hill schooled on Monday morning.

As a result Constitution Hill replaced Lossiemouth as favourite for the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

The two rivals clashed for the first time at Kempton in a Christmas cracker of a race when Constitution Hill prevailed over the Willie Mullins challenger by two and a half lengths.
