Vladimir Putin has blasted Ukraine with "Dagger" hypersonic missiles in a "revenge attack against the UK.". Russia hit Ukraine today with a savage wave of devastating missile and drone strikes apparently striking residential and civilian infrastructure. In the capital Kyiv there was destruction across multiple districts. Overall in Ukraine six were killed and at least 28 wounded in the Russian aggression.
The strikes - and deployment of lethal air-launched Kinzhal, or Dagger, hypersonic missiles - was seen as Vladimir Putin’s revenge for the use by Ukraine of British Storm Shadow and US ATACMS missiles against Russia’s Rostov region a day earlier, or the assassination of the dictator’s top nuclear defence general in Moscow on Tuesday.
Iskander/KN-23 ballistic missiles were also deployed against Ukraine. In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, 630 residential buildings, 16 hospitals, 17 schools and 13 kindergartens were left without heat due to the Russian damage to a main heating pipeline, said mayor Vitali Klitschko. The façade of an office building was damaged and the 15th floor was destroyed with the roof ablaze, and fears people were trapped.
In Shevchenkivsky district, rescuers were searching for people in the ruins of an administrative building. Air defences downed incoming missiles but debris fell, causing fires and damage in Kyiv, where one person died and nine were wounded. Seven were wounded in the capital, and four hospitalised. A warehouse was destroyed in an Iranian-designed drone strike near the city’s Boryspil airport.
