Nearly half of Brits (48 per cent) reckon they don't get enough quality time with their loved ones on the big day because they're bogged down with chores, as per a poll of 2,000 adults.

Moreover, over a fifth (22 per cent) end up vacuuming on Christmas Day, with 41 per cent not wrapping up the cleaning until after 8pm.

David Palmer from LG Electronics, which commissioned the survey when launching its large capacity QuadWash Steam dishwasher, said: "There is no doubt there's many people missing out on the true joys of Christmas as chores get in the way.

And with many spending upwards of three hours in the kitchen come December 25, they're missing out on prime Christmas moments like unwrapping presents and tuning into the Queen's speech.
