The New York City Police Department (NYPD) said in an update this evening that several people were injured after the vehicle hit people in Herald Square at 6th and West 34th Street just after 4pm.
Police later confirmed that one person was taken to Cornell hospital in serious condition, and that a further two people were taken to Bellevue Hospital, also in serious condition.
Local reports from emergency services stating the car - reportedly a New York cab - mounted the curb and struck a group of pedestrians.
Three people sustained minor injuries, while three others sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
