‘We typically have around 4,000 branches operated by independent Postmasters or our retail partners open at weekends and we would expect these branches to be open as usual on the weekends over the festive break.
A Post Office spokesperson said: ‘Our Postmasters know just how much local residents and businesses rely on Post Office services in the run-up to Christmas.
‘We have thousands of branches typically located inside convenience stores and we would expect many of these to remain open throughout the festive period, some will even be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.’.
The Post Office has a network of 11,500 branches across the UK, but out of those 115 of them are determined as ‘Crown’ Post Offices.
You might need to go out to the Post Office if you missed a Christmas delivery and need to pick up a parcel.
