Cleaning expert explains why you should never make your bed in the morning

Many meticulous homeowners wouldn't dream of stepping out first thing in the morning without ensuring their bed is perfectly made. However, they might be doing more harm than good. A savvy cleaning expert has suggested waiting an hour after waking before making the bed, advising to 'throw the duvet back and let your bed breathe'.
Cleaning expert Mrs D warned her followers that beds are 'magnets' for bed bugs and dust mites, attracted by the shed skin and sweat left behind by humans. Dust mites and bed bugs thrive in 'damp and humid areas', so airing your bed could prevent your fresh sheets from becoming a breeding ground.
On Instagram, where she's known as @mrs.ds.cleaning.reviews, Mrs D explained: "Some people only let their bed breathe in the summer, and think that you don't need to do this in the winter because of the cold weather. But this isn't true. With central heating being on in the winter it can attract dust mites and bed bugs just as much as in the summer months.
"So, by making your bed first thing every morning you are trapping all that damp air and helping dust mites and bed bugs breed (sounds horrible, but it's true)." Mrs D further advised her followers to air their beds for at least one hour daily to keep unwanted visitors at bay, a step which could also extend your mattress life.
