Experts are spilling the beans on one of life's pressing questions - how often should you really be washing those bed sheets?. Let's face it, we all have different laundry routines when it comes to our bedding. Some folks are weekly warriors, while others might stretch it out to a fortnight, or, let's be brutally honest, maybe even monthly changeovers are your thing.

But according to bedding experts from Bed Kingdom, the golden rule for keeping your snooze space squeaky clean is a solid sheet shuffle once a week, or at least every other week if life's a bit manic. They advise: "Once a week is a healthy balance between washing sheets regularly enough to avoid the build-up of bacteria, germs, and dirt, without being so often that it becomes hard to fit into your routine.".

The experts underline the importance of this ritual, saying: "We lose a lot of fluid and body oils each night through sweating and respiration. We shed dead skin cells, and dirt rubs off our bodies as we toss and turn. These can build up over a week, making your bed sheets dirty and smelly. This can attract bacteria and fungi, which can cause various skin and health conditions.".

So, although chucking your sheets in the wash may seem like a right old chore, especially when juggling jobs, kids, or just the day-to-day, the clean bed brigade stresses that cozy, fresh linen can up your kip quality significantly and keep nasties at bay. Keep in mind, bunking off bed maintenance could mean more than just an dirty pillowcase - it might just sideline your well-being too.
