Scott Boland's feats at the Sydney Cricket Ground this week will certainly have left Australia's selectors with plenty to think about. Ever since his feats at the MCG during the 2021-22 Ashes series, Boland has been a cult hero among Aussie cricket fans.
This summer, he has been Australia's Mr Reliable in both Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. With questions mounting over Mitchell Starc's fitness, Josh Hazelwood dropping out of the side through injury and Mitchell Marsh not selected, Boland stepped up and was utilised as a key weapon against India, taking 21 wickets in three matches.
Ten of those came in Sydney, with the 35-year-old being named the Man of the Match, for his sensational bowling display in Pat Cummins' side's six-wicket win against Australia. And the 35-year-old seemed to thrive on the Sydney wicket, clean-bowling three players in the second innings.
His feats are put into even greater context when considering Cummins was Australia's leading wicket-taker during the series with 25 wickets to Boland's 21. Scott Boland took a whopping 10 wickets in both innings at the SCG this week in what was an impressive performance from the Victorian quick.
Calls are now being made for Boland to have a regular spot in Australia's bowling line-up. His brilliant performances have got many talking online over whether Boland deserves a space in Australia's bowling attack.
