Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he has married long-term girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez after a slip of the tongue on social media. The Al-Nassr forward, 39, met Rodriguez in 2016 and they have been together for over eight years. She has recently been celebrating her 31st birthday, with her partner sending her a heartfelt message.
Taking to Instagram, the former United star wrote: “'For the mother, partner, friend, my wife... happy birthday, love. Your light illuminates us and your love infects us,” alongside a heart emoji. As it stands, the couple have not confirmed their marriage publicly, but Ronaldo’s use of the word ‘wife’ could suggest otherwise, particularly amid rumours that they wed secretly. It is not the first time that Ronaldo has called Rodriguez his wife.
He regularly refers to her with that title, and did the same at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. Spelling at the time, he said: “It’s a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, my wife [Georgina] is here.”. The veteran forward also did the same on a YouTube video that he shared on his official channel, while the couple were also spotted wearing rings - potentially wedding bands - in the same upload.
Speaking previously, Rodriguez revealed her wish of one day becoming a wife but hinted that marriage plans with Ronaldo had been put on pause. Speaking to The Telegraph, she said: "I have always had this idea of being a happy woman with my husband, my children and this is what I have.
