The awards season is upon us and it's the turn of the Critics' Choice Awards as the celebrities hit the red carpet. The ceremony is celebrating its 30th annual event to recognise the best in cinematic achievement and is taking place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Stars and productions from the small and big screen alike will battle it out for the honours held by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association.
Despite the bash being rescheduled twice due to the devastation of the California wildfires, the stars are now ready to see if they are taking home a gong. In this year's television category, Shōgun leads the way with six nominations. Leading film nominees are Conclave and Wicked, with both movies receiving 11 nominations. Experts have tipped the Best Actor award to go to Conclave's Ralph Fiennes and Best Actress for Wicked's Cynthia Erivo.
Chelsea Handler is hosting this year's ceremony, marking her third year in a row for the role. The comedian and actress is known as the host of Chelsea Lately and also featured on 2016's Netflix documentary titled Chelsea Does. Cynthia looked stunning on the red carpet as she showed off her eccentric nails while wearing a low-cut black dress. Kristen Bell also looked chic in Black as she posed in a stunning sleeveless gown. She matched her look with a black handbag and finished the look with simple yet stand-out bling.
Zoe Saldana shared a smooch with Marco Perego in front of the cameras on the red carpet. The Best Song and Best Supporting Actress nominee looked radiant in red as she gave her man a peck while clasping his hand. He looked smart in a fitted grey suit. Bridget Everett, who has been nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Somebody Somewhere looked elegant in an off the shoulder orange dress with silver strapped heels. She grinned for the cameras while holding up a chequered clutch bag.
Also taking to the red carpet, Jeff Goldblum looked dapper in a black ensemble with flamboyant black and grey jacket. Ethan Slater of Wicked took a more toned down approach as he looked smart in a grey suit and crisp white shirt pairing. Sarah Michelle Gellar looked sleek in black as she posed for the cameras. News correspondent Emily Orozco brought the glamour in a stunning mustard off-the-shoulder dress which flowed out at the bottom with a revealing thigh split on the left side. Zoe Ziegler looked immaculate in a black tux and bowtie combination as the actress swept her hair to the side and over her shoulder. She has been nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress for her role in Janet Planet.
