THE dad of the tragic Huszti sisters has revealed he has “never felt such pain” after being told their bodies have been found. And Miklos Huszti, 63, said the triplet sibling of Henrietta and Eliza, 32, collapsed when she was informed in Hungary about their deaths in Scotland. He shared his heartache after two corpses were recovered from the River Dee — more than three weeks after the pair were last seen in Aberdeen.
The grim discovery shattered their sister Edit, brother Jozsef and the rest of the family. Miklos explained: “My son called me to say that they had probably found Henrietta. “She has a tattoo of an angel, and they’d identified her based on that. I have never felt such pain before. “Edit, my third daughter, also completely collapsed.”. The sisters had vanished by the riverbank on January 7, sparking a major search.
Cops pulled a body from the water last Friday morning then retrieved a second corpse near the city’s Victoria Bridge 13 hours later. Officers soon informed devastated loved ones. Miklos revealed he had not spoken to his daughters for about 12 years after losing contact. But he felt “sick” after being told they had disappeared. He was updated during the search by son Jozsef. All along, he prayed there had been a misunderstanding and that his daughters were still alive.
And Miklos admitted: “For weeks I had hoped that they would be found safe and sound. “But deep down I knew that something had happened to them. “And about a month ago I had a bad feeling. I told my wife that I was afraid that the girls would be in trouble. I wish I had not been right.”. AMID the tragic discoveries, there are five of the biggest questions that still remain. It is believed relatives are now working to get the siblings’ remains flown back to Hungary.
Well-wishers have raised more than £4,000 towards the bereaved family’s costs. Flowers and tributes were yesterday left outside Aberdeen Boat Club, near where Henrietta and Eliza disappeared. Local resident Toyah McDonald, 37, said: “We wanted to pay our respects. It’s so sad. “We never thought things like this would happen here. It has really hit us all.”. We told how the sisters were last spotted heading to an unlit footpath in sub-zero conditions.
