Darren Till believes the reason why Tommy Fury pulled out of their scheduled clash was due to whispers he heard about the former UFC star in sparring. 'The Gorilla' is scheduled to make his professional boxing debut on Saturday night against Anthony Taylor in Manchester. However, the Liverpudlian was due to go toe-to-toe with Fury, but the latter withdrew from their bout after the ex-MMA star threatened to kick his rival in the head.

In an exclusive interview with Mirror Fighting, Till addressed the situation with Fury and claimed he didn't need to kick 'TNT' to win the clash. "I don't need to kick Tommy Fury in the head to win," he said. "I know for a fact I was going to beat Tommy Fury. There's a reason why Tommy pulled out and it wasn't because of the head-kick. People like to talk in boxing, the community is small and rumours get flown about... he was never going to get kicked in the head.".

When pressed on the matter and quizzed what the main reason was for Fury pulling out, Till replied: "I think he heard about how I was getting on in the gym. I think he took the fight thinking that I was out of the gym and out of camp and out of shape. I think he heard about sparring rumours in the gym with certain pros and stuff life that. I thought it just got back to him and he didn't want any of it. That's what I think.".

Both Fury and Till briefly went face-to-face at a launch press conference in November. However, despite the verbal back-and-forth, it was actually John Fury who made the headlines after he sparked chaos. Security was forced to intervene after Fury Sr began squirting water at Till, triggering a scuffle as both fighters attempted to get at the other. However, the pair were kept separate and the situation was eventually de-escalated.
