The eldest daughter of influencer Ruby Franke has discussed the horrific abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother in a memoir. Shari Franke, who was 11 when her mother began a YouTube channel, has exposed horrifying details from her childhood in The House of my Mother.
Ruby started her YouTube channel 8Passengers in 2014, where she meticulously documented her family life amid the backdrop of their Mormon faith. In her prime the parenting influencer, known for her tough love approach, had over two million YouTube followers on 8Passengers - with the name referring to her six children, husband Kevin, and herself.
The disgraced mummy blogger, 42, is currently incarcerated in Utah State Prison for brutally abusing two of her children in 'concentration camp-like setting' after one of her young children escaped and alerted a neighbour to their suffering. She was sentenced to between one and 15 years in prison for each count - up to 60 years in total - at Utah's fifth District Court in February last year.
Shari, who now campaigns for family vlogging to be banned, has detailed how she learned to adjust to her mother's moods, writing in her book via The Guardian: 'Anything less than unbridled enthusiasm would trigger Ruby into a rage. 'One hint of displeasure on my face, and whack! … But no matter how much I twisted and turned, no matter how much I achieved or accomplished, it would never be enough. There would always be some new hoop to jump through, some new standard to meet'.
