Experts recommend keeping humidity in your space between 30% and 50%. Anything higher than this can cause dampness, which encourages mould growth. To control this, homeowners can pick up a budget-friendly gadget from their local Lidl. The Russell Hobbs Compact Dehumidifier is currently available for just £29.99.

According to manufacturers, the gadget is the "ideal tool for reducing humidity and minimising the physical signs of damp and condensation in your home office, utility room, or small living space.". They described the dehumidifier as "key" to preventing moisture build-up in the winter months.

The light-weight item is designed to be easily moved from room to room. It includes an "easy-to-empty" water tank, which can hold up to 600 militlitres of water. The dehumidifier has a maximum extraction rate of 300 mililitres per day. It has an auto shut-off function when the tank becomes full, meaning it can be safely operated without supervision.

The gadget is also equipped with a low noise motor to ensure minimal disturbance while in use. And for particularly chilly winter nights, there's a defrost option available. When temperatures drop, a sensor inside the gadget will heat to prevent water from freezing to the elements.
