Desperate homeless people kicked out of pod houses by council and forced to live on the street for 'unspeakable' reason Homeless people living in emergency shelters are being forced to sleep on the streets in freezing temperatures for three weeks this Christmas - because workers who change chemical toilets are on holiday.

The four pods, in Exeter's Howell Road Car Park, each have a bed, toilet and a USB charging port and solar-powered lighting.

Residents living in the tiny pods in a council car park were told they must leave by December 18 until the new year because workers wouldn't be available for routine maintenance.

When they were installed in 2023, Exeter City Council said they were offered to rough sleepers who had 'no alternative accommodation available'.

I know everybody wants Christmas off but I feel let down by the council.
