Coronation Street fans have slammed bosses’ decision to give returnee Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) terminal cancer.
The beloved character staged a return to Weatherfield at the end of last week after it was confirmed actress Katy Cavanagh would reprise her role as part of on-screen sister Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) exit storyline.
Speaking about her return to the soap, Katy previously said: ‘It is exciting to dust off Julie’s quirky wardrobe again and an absolute joy to step back onto the cobbles.
Nobody wants to lose Debbie to dementia, also we don’t want you to bring a fantastic character like Julie back only to give her cancer!
A third agreed: ‘Why bring back the sunshine that is Julie Carp, just to give her cancer?
