Fans of Phineas and Ferb are in for a treat, with the much-anticipated revival series set to hit Disney Channel and Disney+ this summer. Excitement brewed as co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh made the announcement on Thursday (6th February), confirming the release schedule. Speaking to Variety, they said: "Since Phineas and Ferb is essentially a celebration of summer vacation, summer is the perfect time to debut the new season.
"We have had such a great time diving back into this world and the entire cast and crew have really brought their A-game. We cannot wait to see fans' reactions to what is shaping up to be our favourite season yet.". The return of the animated series was first teased in 2023 when Disney Branded Television unveiled that the revival would consist of 40 episodes across two seasons, reports the Express. Voice actors Vincent Martella and David Errigo Jr. will reprise their roles as stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb, alongside Ashley Tisdale as their sister Candace and Caroline Rhea as their mum Linda Flynn-Fletcher.
Returning to voice their iconic characters are Dee Bradley-Baker as Perry the Platypus and Alyson Stoner as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, with Dan and Swampy themselves voicing Dr Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram respectively. Originally launched on Disney Channel in 2007, the beloved animated series aired for four seasons until 2015. The series chronicles the summer escapades of stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb, with each day of their holiday serving as an opportunity for the boys to embark on a thrilling adventure or build an impressive project.
Creators Dan and Swampy drew inspiration from their own childhood summers and first dreamt up the characters in the 90s while working on popular shows like The Simpsons and Rocko's Modern Life. They jointly developed the series and spent 16 years pitching it to networks before The Walt Disney Company decided to take a chance on it. It quickly became one of Disney Channel's most successful animated franchises, earning critical acclaim for its humour and writing.
The show even bagged a Daytime Emmy Award in 2010 for Outstanding Writing in Animation, along with several Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. In addition to the series, a television film titled Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension aired in 2011, followed by a sequel, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, which premiered on Disney+ in 2020.
