Nigel Farage has insisted that Donald Trump will return a bust of Winston Churchill to the Oval Office on his first day back in the White House. The British wartime leader's statue had occupied a prominent position in the White House until President Biden removed it in 2021, replacing it with a bust of civil rights leader Cesar Chavez.

When asked by the Express if Trump was going to return the Winston Churchill bust to the Oval Office, Mr Farage responded: “Good Lord, yes.”. When quizzed on whether this would happen on his first day in office, the Reform leader snapped: “Of course he is. Don't be ridiculous.”.

Trump has already put the bust of Mr Churchill back into the Oval Office once before when he entered the White House following Barack Obama’s tenure. The statue was previously banished by Mr Obama after he took office in 2008. Follow the latest from Donald Trump’s inauguration in our live blog.

The Reform UK leader and President-Elect’s cheerleader-in-chief also insisted that Trump will be “the most pro-British president since Eisenhower” hours before he returns to the White House. The Clacton MP pressed on: “We've got somebody who is very, very much his mother's son.

“Trump as a teenager came to Scotland a lot and spent a lot of time there. “He's got his investments there, loves the royals on a level you can't even believe.”. Mr Farage also pointed out that Trump rallies pump out songs from English rockstars such as Elton John, David Bowie and Phil Collins before describing him as a “very Anglophile president”.
