The second half of North Carolina State's college basketball game against Duke wasn't short of drama Monday night. A series of shocking scenes played out inside Cameron Indoor Stadium on the Blue Devils' campus. Cooper Flagg dropped 28 points to help Duke rally back to a 74-64 win over the NC Wolfpack but the high-intensity comeback came at a cost for Khaman Maluach.
Trailing by one point with under five minutes of regulation remaining on the clock, Duke's starting center was standing under the basket when he was caught in an embarrassing moment. The 7-foot-2 Maluach was just outside the lane near the baseline behind NC State's Brandon Huntley-Hatfield when he suddenly stopped and stood still.
The 18-year-old Maluach swiftly his mouth with his hand and proceeding to vomit all over the court. Duke's starting center Khaman Maluach vomited on the court during Monday night's game. The freshman laying on his back on the court while team medical staff tended to him.
Maluach sat briefly on the court before laying on his back while team medical staff tended to him. Maluach was alert the entire time, eventually sitting up and then being helped to his feet to walk slowly off the court. He soon left the bench for the rest of the game.
A jarring stoppage followed as poor Duke staff members quickly carried out the unenviable task of mopping the vomit off the floor with spray cleaner and numerous towels. Duke head coach Jon Scheyer later revealed that the Sudanese player had been suffering with cramping causing the incident. Scheyer added that the freshman 'felt better after the game.'.
