Dwight Yorke has told Ruben Amorim to ‘move on’ from two Manchester United players and says fans would ‘understand’ if they left Old Trafford. Amorim has his work cut out at United, the Red Devils still sitting in the bottom-half of the Premier League almost three months since the Portuguese boss was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.

Manchester United have lost five of their last seven league games under Amorim, who guided Sporting Lisbon to two league titles before leaving for the Premier League giants. Amorim is expected to bolster his United squad over the next two transfer windows but Yorke believes some players should also be offloaded, including Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans.

Ex-captain Maguire has been a mainstay in the team since Amorim’s arrival but Yorke believes his ‘time is done’ at Manchester United. Yorke feels similarly about veteran Evans and says both defenders risk blocking the development of 19-year-old £52m summer signing Leny Yoro.

‘Harry Maguire has done his time at Manchester United, he’s been a great player at the club and he’s won trophies in his time,’ Yorke told CoinCasino. ‘But now, it’s time to turn the page, Man United need to move on from Maguire, and even the likes of Jonny Evans, who I have a lot of respect for.

‘The club needs fresher legs, players like Leny Yoro need to be integrated into the team and Maguire can hold his development back. ‘Sir Alex Ferguson would have been ruthless in this position, he knew when certain players’ time was up and he would sell Maguire.
