EastEnders fans ‘work out’ who is returning next – and it’s a big one

EastEnders fans reckon they’ve worked out who is next in line to return to Walford and it’s safe to say that the character in question would cause quite the stir if their theory proves correct. During Tuesday’s (February 4) edition of the BBC One soap, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) was seen on the phone to mum Tanya (Jo Joyner). The scene in question prompted quite a response with fans, who thought this was indicative that Tanya would be returning to the show in the lead up to the 40th anniversary.

‘LAUREN PHONING TANYA come home,’ exclaimed X (formerly Twitter) user Alessia. Laura, meanwhile, added: ‘I love that Lauren was talking to Tanya on the phone. I would love to see Tanya return, especially if she can find and bring Max with her!!’. ‘TANYA CROSS RETURN LOOMING!!!!!,’ wrote fan Ryan, while another user said: ‘TANYA KLAXON, I REPEAT, TANYA CROSS KLAXON!!!’. Up Next. Tanya, who was last seen in 2018, remains incredibly popular with fans of the show so it’s safe to say a return for the character would be most welcome. EastEnders will officially turn 40 next month and, as part of the celebrations, a week’s worth of episodes will all take place in one day. A special hour-long offering will transmit on Wednesday February 19 followed by a full live episode on Thursday February 20.
The episode in question will see Denise Fox (Diane Parish) make a choice between Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen). The outcome of the storyline will be voted for by fans. EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One or stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
