Fans were quick to share their excitement at actress Laurie's new role, with one writing on X: "Can’t wait for Jane’s new role as a nurse in a flashback #Casualty episode, we praise you Laurie Brett", and another adding: OMG Laurie Brett ( who plays Jane Beale in #EastEnders) is in next Saturday's episode of #Casualty".

EastEnders actress Laurie Brett - who plays Albert Square's Jane Beale - is set to make a triumphant return to telly in an episode of another huge BBC show.

Jodie, played by Anna Chell, joined the medical soap in 2023 and was quickly involved in a number of dramatic storylines including being spiked and kidnapped, learning her estranged dad was her boss, and being caught up in a bomb attack.

After relocating to Albert Square permanently, she was involved in a number of dramatic storylines up until her exit in 2017, when she was ordered by Max Branning (played by Jake Wood) to leave the Square for good or risk him hurting her family.

Lanarkshire-born Laurie, 55, will feature in a special flashback on Casualty this coming Saturday (February 15), eight years after she left Walford for what was then believed to be the final time.
