Elon Musk's father has revealed that his son, the world's richest man, wants to buy English football giants Liverpool. Musk, 53, is best known for being the CEO of Tesla Motors, the owner of X (formerly Twitter) and a close ally of US president-elect Donald Trump. The South African mogul is worth a staggering £340billion.

His dad, Errol, revealed Elon's surprising plans while speaking on Times Radio. "Does your son want to buy Liverpool Football Club?" he was asked. Errol replied: "I can't comment on that, they'll [current owners Fenway Sports Group] raise the price. Oh yes, [he has expressed a desire], but that doesn't mean he's buying it.".

Musk snr was then pushed further, being asked if purchasing the current Premier League leaders was "in his son's sights.". "He would like to. Yes, obviously. Anybody would want to - so would I," Errol responded. "His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a few of The Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool you know.".

Liverpool have been owned by FSG since 2010. Forbes' most-recent assessment ranked the Reds as the fourth-most valuable football club in the world, worth £4.3bn. In September 2023, FSG sold a minority stake to a US investment firm, Dynasty Equity. This was to help repay debts incurred by a combination of factors, including the Covid pandemic, the redevelopment of Anfield and repurchasing the club's Melwood training ground.
