Silent Witness star Emilia Fox has lavished praise on her colleague David Caves as the hit BBC series makes its comeback. The 28th season premiered on Monday, January 6, with fans eager to see the outcome of last season's cliffhanger where Caves' character Jack Hodgson popped the question to Dr Nikki Alexander, played by Fox, after years of their 'will they, won't they' dynamic.
In a chat with the BBC, Fox gushed about her 13-year partnership with Caves on the show, saying: "We both love the show, we never take it for granted and want it to be the best. We have a very similar approach to our work.". She continued to heap accolades on her co-star: "You can always rely on him for the most amazing performance. He's an incredibly skilled actor, which makes it very easy to play opposite him.".
Fox also highlighted the deep trust and familiarity they share, adding: "But we also have a familiarity and a trust in each other. I trust him more than any other actor I've ever worked with," reports the Liverpool Echo. Describing Caves as "kind", "good" and "a gentleman", Fox expressed sheer delight in their on and off-screen friendship: "How lucky it is to have that friendship, on screen and off screen. I really love working with him.".
Caves reciprocated the sentiment, expressing his "tremendous time and love" for Fox and commending her dedication: "There isn't anybody who works harder or knows the show better or cares about the scripts as much as she does. I really admire the fact that she still has that care and love.".
